For thousands of years the humans were fit and strong. That was without gyms, exercise or nutrition plans, sets or repetitions. We moved because we had to. And because we had to move all the time we moved efficiently and with a great variety of movements - running, jumping, crawling, climbing. Our bodies haven't changed. We are still designed to do all of this. Sometimes it's just difficult to remember...
